Disadvantages

Disadvantages are designed to add extra role-playing to the game. Disadvantages are taken strictly by the choice of the player. Although a disadvantage may be suppressed by actions in the game, the only way to permanently remove a disadvantage is by "buying it back" utilizing twice the Character Creation Points originally used to purchase it. A character rewrite (approved by plot only) may allow the poriginal purchase of a Disadvantage to be removed, but there is no guarantee.

Pathological Liar – With this disadvantage it is impossible for this character to know what the truth is. S/he may still tell the truth but it would only be by accident. A pathological liar believes everything they say to be the truth, whether or not it, in fact, is. This disadvantage is for in-game role-playing only. No blaming your pathological lying on out-of-game calls.

Phobia vs. Undead – This type of phobia is the fear of all undead. This character is sure there is something big and scary and dead waiting around every corner to pounce on them. They will seek to escape any combat that undead are involved in, whether or not their the bad guys, but left without an option they will attack as though their life depended on it.

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Phobia vs. Necromancy – This phobia is an irrational fear of anything that has to do with necromancy. This phobia will cause an individual to be completely against the use of this type of magic, whether for good or bad, and will not allow it to be used on them even to save their lives. If necromancy is used around them they will attempt to leave the area. They believe all necromancers are out to wreak havoc among mankind… starting with them.

Character Creation Points gained – 10

Phobia vs. Illusion – This phobia is very similar to the phobia vs. necromancy except that, of course, the magic they are afraid of is illusion. As with all phobias, the fear is irrational and not capable of being resisted or dispelled.

Phobia vs. Battle Magic – This phobia is an irrational fear of any use of battle magic. They will not be a party to any ritual and will leave if they feel attempts to stop the ritual may prove dangerous. This phobia is irrational and cannot be dispelled or resisted.

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Phobia vs. Healing Magic – Characters with this phobia will never allow a healing spell to be cast upon them… assuming they are aware of it. If healers are in the area they will try to leave and if they cannot they will do all they can to defend themselves against the vile vermin attempting to save their lives.

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Phobia vs. Psionics – This phobia is directed at psionics. The effected character will never take any psionic discipline or allow one to be used on them. This is an irrational fear and cannot be resisted or dispelled. The character will always suspect people of using ESP on them and constantly be on the look out for alien thoughts entering their minds. If a psionist or psionic effect is apparent in the area, the character will try to escape.

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Phobia vs. Poisons – This is the same as the other phobias and as such, the character cannot use or allow to be used or create any poison or elixir. A character with this phobia will always be sure their food or drink is tainted and will panic at every wound, sure the blade that caused it was poisoned. These characters will use every resource available to avoid any situation involving poisons or elixirs.

Character Creation Points gained – 10

Phobia vs. Members of the Opposite Sex – This phobia is directed toward every member of the characters opposite sex… this would include those who fall in the middle too! The effected player will become anxious, nervous and, in extreme cases, terrified by anyone of the opposite sex. They can stand to be around these people, but would never let them use any skill on them and would avoid all contact with them. This fear is also irrational and cannot be dispelled or resisted.

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Illiteracy – If you suffer from this, then you have no idea what this says anyway so I’ll take this time to let you know just how much you annoy me. I mean, you can’t tell what any of this says, you dunderhead, so why should I waste my time sucking up to you anymore. I’m sick and tired of pandering to your whims and explaining every single little detail of this system to you… and then I come to find you can’t even read it! For those who can read this, ignore the above… you others (you know who you are) I hope your head falls off at an inopportune moment! Oh yeah, and characters with this affliction are unable to train in literacy.

Character Creation Points gained – 15

Double From Magic Type – These characters are far more vulnerable to whatever magic type it is that they choose to be afflicted with. The magic types are as follows: Lightning, Ice, Fire, Acid, Stone, Sonic and Magic. Each chosen type counts as a separate disadvantage. The effected character will take double the ordinary damage from the specific attack.

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Triple From Magic Type – This is the same as above but you take triple damage from the specific magical attacks. (Cannot be taken at the same time as "Double" for any specific damage type, i.e. you cannot stack these two)

Character Creation Points gained – 10

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Agoraphobia – This is the fear of wide-open spaces. This affects a character by not allowing them to go into any large, open field or other such area. If a character is forced to go into an area like this, they will use every resource at their disposal to get away from it as quickly as possible.

Character Creation Points gained – 5

Claustrophobia – This is the fear of closed in spaces. This affects the character by not allowing them to go into a small structure such as a cave, an extremely small hut, an abnormally small cathedral, etc. If a character is forced against their will into a small area, they will do everything they can to get out.

Character Creation Points gained – 10

Poverty – This disadvantage causes the character to be terminally poor. If this person were to stumble across a huge pile of gold they would either go straight to the local tavern and drink/gamble it away, get robbed immediately by some ne’er-do-well, or simply use it all to invest in a building project down in the local swamplands. Any character that has this disadvantage can neither bring money into a game nor leave a game with any. They are able to pay for maxing out on their experience for the weekend and can only bring and leave with X amount of items.

Character Creation Points gained – 10

Physical Deformity – This disadvantage can take any form the player wishes as long as it does not resemble another race and is not for the purpose of disguising their features.
